Description
In 1967, Iran adopted the Family Protection Act which granted women family rights, abolished extrajudicial divorce, greatly limited polygamy, and established special Family Courts. The act was expanded in 1975 to include raising the marrying age of women to 18 and men to 20 and again limiting polygamy among other things.
