Cultural Boundaries and Cyber Spaces; Second Panel Introduction and Fourth Presentation: Bushra Jabre [Part 6] (video)
Description
(Mahnaz Afkhami, Bushra Jabre)
Mahnaz Afkhami introduces the next session of the symposium, "New Ways of Learning and Leading," which focuses on specific ways information and communications technologies (ICTs) shape and enhance possibilities for learning and the practice of leadership, particularly for the work of the global women's movement. The panel is moderated by Charlotte Bunch, who gives a brief summary of the subject and introduces Bushra Jabre.
Speaker Bushra Jabre, coordinator for the "Arab Women Speak Out" project, gives a brief description of the project and shows a section of one of the films produced by the project. The videos are used for training and advocacy work with grassroots women. Jabre emphasizes the capacity of women from very simple backgrounds to learn from the models presented in the videos through the concept of social learning and consciousness-raising. Jabre gives an overview of the project implementation including training of "master trainers," conducting local workshops, monitoring field activities, and collecting participant feedback.
