Jacqueline Pitanguy, founder of Cidadania, Estudo, Pesquisa, Informação e Ação (CEPIA), Women's Learning Partnership's partner in Brazil, speaks on types of leadership, what makes a good leader, and her life as a leader/activist. She also talks in-depth on the process of reforming the Brazilian constitution after the end of military rule in 1985.

This is the first part of a three-part series of interviews that took place at the Cosmos Club, Washington, DC, 2002, prior to the Women's Learning Partnership (WLP) Board of Directors meeting.

This interview took place on the same day as Zenebework Tadesse's speaking event at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars entitled Beyond the Magic Bullet: African Women and their Long and Complex Quest for Gender Justice.
